Pune: PMC Announces Distribution Of Property Tax Bills After Restoration Of 40% Discount
Pune, 20th April 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced that property tax bills will be distributed from May 1st after the decision to restore the 40 percent discount in property tax was sealed on Wednesday. The last date for payment of property tax is June 30th, and taxpayers who pay within this period will receive a discount of minimum five to maximum ten percent in general tax.
The 40 percent exemption in property tax for self-occupied households has been retained from April 1st, 2023, and it will benefit more than five lakh property holders. The decision in this regard was delayed and could not be made before the commencement of the new financial year. As a result, the Taxation and Tax Collection Department of the PMC extended the deadline for printing and distribution of new payments by one month.
The decision to restore the exemption was made in a cabinet meeting yesterday and was welcomed by property owners who will benefit from it. The announcement of the decision also brought relief to the Municipal Corporation, which was under pressure from property owners to restore the exemption.
