Pune: PMC Demolishes 9,600 Sq Ft of Illegal Constructions in Kothrud, Kondhwa and Aundh
Pune, 5th March 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) carried out a major anti-encroachment and illegal construction removal drive in several parts of the city on Thursday morning, demolishing multiple unauthorised structures and seizing roadside setups.
According to a press release issued by the PMC’s Encroachment and Unauthorised Construction Removal Department, the action was conducted under the orders of the Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram and supervised by Deputy Commissioner Somnath Bankar and Chief Security Officer Dr Ramesh Shelar.
The operation began at around 9 am in areas including Peth, Kothrud, Karvenagar, Kondhwa Khurd, and Aundh–Bopodi.
During the drive, civic teams removed around 9,600 square feet of illegal temporary and permanent sheds and structures. Officials also seized 10 roadside counters and six handcarts, while a total of 32 unauthorised sheds were demolished.
The operation was carried out by officials from the Encroachment Removal Department and the Building Development Department, including Kiran Desale, Vijay Patil, Manoj Kumar Mate, Junior Engineer Kiran Kalashetti, Deputy Engineer Deepak Sonawane, Encroachment Inspector Rakesh Kachi, and Assistant Encroachment Inspectors Nitin Khairnar, Anil Deshmukh, and Sushil Kahane.
The drive was supported by 11 PMC police personnel and 42 Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) jawans. Authorities also deployed five JCB machines, six gas cutters, and five breakers for the demolition work. Around 60 labourers assisted in carrying out the operation.
PMC officials said such actions will continue in different parts of the city to curb illegal constructions and encroachments.
