Pune: PMC Dsimantles Unauthorized Advertisement Boards In Kharadi And Wagholi, To Recover Rs 1.03 Crore From Advertisers
Wagholi, 13th December 2023: In a move against unauthorized advertisement boards, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken decisive action against five such boards in Kharadi and six in Wagholi. The PMC has not only removed these illegal structures but is now poised to recover the disposal costs from the advertisers or organizations responsible.
The disposal cost for this operation amounts to a staggering one crore three lakh rupees, with each unauthorized board incurring a cost of Rs. 9 lakh 38 thousand. Eight individuals, who were beneficiaries of these unauthorized boards, are now liable to bear the financial burden of the PMC’s enforcement actions.
However, despite the provision to recover the disposal cost from the advertisers or organizations, the concerned parties have failed to pay within the stipulated time frame. Consequently, PMC is now set to recover this amount by imposing a burden on their income. This move is in line with the commitment to ensuring compliance with advertising regulations and maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the city.
The Sky Sign and License Department of PMC, responsible for initiating the action against unauthorized billboards, will receive the recovered amount once the process is completed. The PMC Commissioner has been duly authorized to collect these funds from the defaulting advertisers or organizations.
A formal letter has been dispatched to the Head of the Taxation and Tax Collection Department, along with the Deputy Commissioner, outlining the necessary steps for income recovery. The Taxation and Tax Collection Department has approved this initiative.
It has been revealed that the unauthorized flex boards were owned by two former deputy-sarpanchs in Wagholi. The recovery process will involve charging the cost of one board from one former deputy sarpanch, the cost of three unauthorized boards from another former deputy sarpanch, and the cost of two boards from another individual involved in the advertising.
