Pune: PMC Gives High Priority To Telecom Corporations Providing 5G Network

Pune, 21st September 2022: Pune was among the 13 cities which got picked to launch 5G services. Given that, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is giving priority to telecommunications corporations when launching their network services.

Vikram Kumar, PMC Commissioner said that following the Maharashtra state government guidelines, the PMC will give priority to allowing 5G service provider telecom companies to build towers, install ductwork, and lay down optical fibre networks.

Recently, top state government officials met in Mumbai and decided to set road digging fees for 5G services, he continued. For the time being, PMC would charge Rs 12,000 per running metre to dig roads and install cables.

The Centre will formally introduce 5G services on September 29, 2022, at the beginning of the India Mobile Congress (IMC). Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the services’ impending introduction in his Independence Day speech.

The rollout of 5G services would take place in stages. Fast 5G internet services would be available in the first phase in cities like Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune.
