Pune: PMC Grants 3 Days Extension For Payment Of Property Tax In Concession
Pune, 1st June 2022: The Tax Collection Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to give three days extension to pay the property tax with concession. The deadline for getting a general tax rebate of five to ten per cent has been extended to June 3.
Meanwhile, 5 lakh 93 thousand 270 property owners in the city have paid property tax of Rs 939 crore 89 lakh in a period of two months. In the last two days of filing property tax, 64,933 property owners have paid property tax of Rs 132.67 crore, which is Rs 193.88 crore more than last year. As on March 31 last year, income of Rs 746.01 crore had been deposited in the municipal accounts.
Ten percent concession in general tax is given to the property owners whose general tax amount is less than Rs 25 thousand. So, those property owners whose demand for general tax is more than Rs 25 thousand, are given five percent relief in general tax. For this, all the amount of property tax is expected to be paid by May 31. Some property owners still do not pay taxes. In addition, thousands of citizens had lodged complaints with the tax collection department of the corporation about the crash of the corporation’s website while filling the taxes online. As a result, they could not pay their taxes on time. In view of this, a three-day extension has been given to pay property tax at a discounted rate.
“Property tax payers prefer to pay the tax online. 4 lakh 16 thousand 975 property owners in the city have paid tax of Rs 587 crore 44 lakh. The rate of tax payment through digital payment is 70.28 percent. 1 lakh 1 thousand 377 property tax payers have deposited Rs. 83 crore 20 lakhs in cash and its percentage is 17.08 percent. 74,918 property owners have paid Rs 269.24 crore by check. Its percentage is 12.62,” informed Ajit Deshmukh, Head, Taxation and Tax Collection.
5 lakh 93 thousand 270 property owners who have paid property tax on time have been given concession of 5 to 10 percent. Accordingly, this amount is Rs 19 crore 21 lakh. Property tax payments have been sent to 8 lakh 12 thousand 220 property owners in the city this year. The Department of Taxation and Tax Vollection has appealed to the property owners to pay property tax and the concession afterwards.
