Pune: Alternative Route To Sinhagad Road Will Be Open For Traffic In Next 15 Days
Pune, 1st June 2022: Work on the right hand of the Mutha canal, which is an alternative to Sinhagad road and is stalled due to lack of funds, is in the final stage. One side of the road is being completed and work on the other side has been completed. The road will be opened for traffic in the next fortnight. Therefore, after many years, an alternative route will be available to Sinhagad road.
Madhuri Misal, MLA of Parvati Assembly constituency inspected the road along with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials. At that time, the municipal officials informed that the alternative road will be opened for traffic in the next 15 days. Srinivasa Bonala, Project Head, Transport Department, V. G. Kulkarni, Senior Police Inspector Amit Ghule, Uday Singh Shingade and other PMC engineers were present.
“The work of concreting behind the Janata Vasahat and PL Deshpande Garden has been completed. The work of tree pruning and electricity department on this road will be completed in 15 days. After that, the road will be open for traffic,” said Misal.
At this time, Misal instructed the municipal officials to complete the works of the areas like Vishranti Nagar Road, road behind the Vitthal Mandir, Hingane Chowk, Canal Road etc. immediately. The work of flyover on Sinhagad road was also inspected at that time.
The fact that this alternative road to Sinhagad road has been stalled since last year due to non-availability of funds of Rs 3 crore to the Municipal Corporation, which was reportedly wasted crores of rupees on unnecessary works. Municipal Corporation has undertaken the work of flyover between Rajaram bridge and Funtime Cinema hall/ theatre hall as there is no alternative road. Although there are five alternative roads to Sinhagad road, the fact remains that they remain on paper.
As an alternative road to Sinhagad Road, the Municipal Corporation has constructed a new road on the right side of canal along the Funtime Cinema to PL Deshpande Garden proposed to make an alternative route. The road from Funtime Cinema to Hingane has been completed and opened to traffic. This road is being used by all vehicles coming from Vitthalwadi Chowk. Most of the road work between PL Deshpande Garden and Hingane has been completed.
