Pune: PMC Launches Lottery Program For Taxpayers
Pune, 20th June 2023: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has recently initiated the distribution of property tax bills for the fiscal year 2023-24 to all property owners within its jurisdiction. In an effort to promote timely payments, PMC has introduced a discount of either 5% or 10% on property tax for those who settle the full amount by July 31, 2023.
PMC has taken its commitment to encourage property tax compliance a step further by launching an exciting lottery scheme exclusively for property holders who make complete payments for their residential, non-residential, and vacant land properties between May 15, 2023, and July 31, 2023. A total of 45 enticing prizes, including 5 petrol cars, 15 e-bikes, 15 mobile phones, and 10 laptops, will be awarded to the fortunate winners. Participating in the lottery is straightforward as no separate application is required. Property owners become eligible for the lottery automatically upon settling their entire property tax within the specified timeframe.
Ajit Deshmukh, the head of PMC’s tax department, revealed that since May, the Taxation and Collection Department has implemented comprehensive measures to address outstanding property tax payments from non-resident property owners. To date, over 400 non-resident property holders have already faced sealing actions initiated by the department. These rigorous sealing actions will persist in order to address any remaining property tax arrears.
By introducing this lottery scheme and intensifying efforts to collect outstanding payments, PMC aims to incentivize property owners to fulfill their tax obligations promptly while also enhancing revenue collection for the municipality.
