Pune: PMC Makes Provision Of Rs 344 Crore For Fight Against Covid-19

Pune, 18th August 2021: The tiring fight against Corona requires a huge amount of expenses. Considering this, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Standing Committee grants permission to drop some development projects and 10 percent of the overall budget will be made available for the preparation of the fight against Coronavirus.
In the 2nd wave of Coronavirus, as the Covid-19 infected cases were rising, the PMC was facing a deficiency of medical facilities in Pune city. There was a huge demand for oxygen beds but it was unavailable. To avoid the reputation of this situation, the PMC is now preparing medical facilities for the predicted 3rd wave of Coronavirus. Preparing quarantine, isolation facilities, enough beds for infected patients, Jumbo Covid centres and news hospitals, providing food for patients and electrical work at various centres and hospitals will be done by the PMC and for this provision Rs 343.50 crore is made by the municipal corporation. The proposal was presented in the standing committee meeting and the committee granted permission for this.
The overall budget for PMC is Rs 4035 crore. It includes projects like the JICA Project, Atal Bihari Vajpeyee medical college, the River Restoration project, various development work at newly merged 23 villages and some projects of corporators ‘S’ list. Out of this, some projects were dropped by PMC and 10 percent of the remaining Rs 3430 crore which will be about Rs 343.50 crore will be made available for the fight against Covid-19.
