Pune: PMC Receives Two Modern Sewage Cleaning Vehicles from State Government

Shivajinagar, 17th April 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has received two advanced sewage cleaning vehicles from the Maharashtra state government to modernize and mechanize the city’s drainage maintenance system. An inauguration ceremony for the new vehicles was held at the PMC headquarters on Wednesday.
Present at the event were Additional Commissioner Prithviraj B. P., Superintendent Engineers Jagdish Khanore and Santosh Tandale, Executive Engineer Ajay Vaise, along with other senior officials.
Following directives from the Central Government, all cleaning, maintenance, and repair work of sewage channels across the country must now be conducted using machines instead of manual labor. In line with this, the Maharashtra Urban Development Department has sanctioned the distribution of two vehicles—one with an 18.5-ton capacity and another with an 8-ton capacity—to each municipal corporation and municipality across the state.
The PMC has been allocated two ‘Suction cum Jetting with Water Recycle System’ vehicles, now operational in the city. These vehicles are leased for a period of seven years, with the cost to be borne by the state government.
In addition, PMC has planned to procure 13 more such advanced vehicles using its own funds, with an estimated investment of ₹95 crore.
