Pune: PMC To Install New Type Of Pedestrian Signal System
Pune, 3rd February 2023: At 40 city intersections where an Adaptive/Advance Traffic Management System (ATMS) has not been proposed, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced plans to install pedestrian signal systems.
The pedestrian signal system in the new system which uses more modern technology and is made to increase pedestrian safety and facilitate crosswalk navigation.
For this effort, the PMC’s Electricity Department created an introductory computation sheet. Nucleonics Traffic Solutions Private Limited is slated to receive the contract for a price of Rs 31,93,438. Reportedly, Additional commissioner Kunal Khemnar presented suggestions regarding the same to the standing committee.
The system will improve intersection efficiency by reducing traffic congestion and coordinating traffic flow, which will make intersections safer as well.
