Pune, 5th July 2021: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is working on the draft development plan (DP) of 23 villages included in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The same plan will be published and objections and suggestions will be taken on it. Meanwhile, plans for roads, water supply, drainage and lighting in 23 villages are being prepared and implemented accordingly, said Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar.

He held a meeting of all the department heads regarding the 23 villages included in the municipal limits. He said that after the merger of the villages, the process of taking possession of the documents from the Gram Panchayat has been started. Also, the process is underway to get the Gram Panchayat employees to be included in the Municipal Corporation. Defects in roads, water supply, drainage, street lights etc. are coming to the fore in the villages. In this connection, the authorities have been directed to give priority to planning, Kumar informed during a press conference.

In this development plan of drainage, a 24 hours water supply scheme of 23 villages will be prepared like the 11 villages that merged with the municipality earlier. Orders have been issued to plan for street lights as well as waste management, he said.

There are 1.92 lakh registered properties in the included villages. The issue of taxation of these properties was also discussed in today’s meeting. Tax will be levied from these villages as well as 11 villages. In addition to 11 villages, the process of taking over schools, district hospitals and government lands in 23 newly included villages has also been started, Kumar said.

He said that PMRDA has already started work to prepare a development plan for their entire region. These 23 villages were within the limits of PMRDA. Work on their draft development plan is in its final stages. This draft plan will be published and citizens’ objections and suggestions will be invited. The draft will then be sent to the government for approval.

PMRDA is still issuing building permits in the 23 villages covered. The building permit rights have not yet come to the PMC, he said.
