Pune: PMC To Launch COVID Vaccination Campaign In Schools For Kids

Pune, 17th June 2022: As the schools have reopened the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is going to launch a COVID19 vaccination campaign from June 24 for students between age groups 12 to 14 years, informed Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar.

As per the order of the Government of Maharashtra, PMC had started vaccinating children in the age group of 12 to 14 years in the entire city of Pune from 16th March. The children are being administered the Corbevax vaccine. Accordingly, since the inception of the vaccination campaign, 26% of the beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years have completed the first dose and 14% of the beneficiaries have completed both doses.

In order to provide free vaccinations to the beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years, the PMC will organise camps in private and municipal schools through ‘Vaccine on Wheels’.

The children who are born in the years 2008, and 2009 as well as on or before March 15, 2010, will be eligible. Beneficiaries coming for vaccination must have an Aadhaar card/identity card.

“From June 24, we plan to provide vaccine doses to approximately 11,800 students in 76 schools. Parents of children in the age group of 12 to 14 years should get their children vaccinated in school”, said PMC Commissioner Kumar.
