Pune: PMC Tries To Evict Bride And Groom Alongwith Guests From Hall During Ceremonies
Kondhwa, 11th May 2022: A surprising incident occurred during a wedding where officials from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) tried to evict the bride and groom during their wedding from the Imam Ajam multipurpose hall at Sai baba Nagar area of Kondhwa, Pune. The officials accused them of illegally using the property.
When the couple’s family was requested to stop the ceremony and exit the building, they were taken aback. This occurred when guests were there, and they were requested to leave immediately.

According to Salim Mulla, a local activist, the facility has been used for wedding ceremonies for quite some time.
Salim said, “It is the first time PMC officials barged into the hall and asked the families to hurry up. The hall was built by the civic body and it was proposed by former corporator and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) city chief Sainath Babar. Now the term has ended, however, he still has possession of the hall. If locals want to use the hall that is built with the taxpayer’s money, they have to plead to Babar.”

He further added, “This did not go well with another former corporator who opposed Babar and filed a complaint.
Following the complaint, civic body officials came to the venue to interrupt the ceremony. It was the ego of the former corporators which disturbed the locals.”
“Local politicians have started occupying it by using muscle power and influence. It is illegal to use it for any kind of marriage ceremony,” said a senior official from the PMC.
Later, Babar visited the hall alongwith PMC officials to allow the marriage ceremonies.
