Pune: Poila Boishakh 2026 Celebrated with Cultural Fervour by Bengali Community in Ravet
Ravet, 17th April 2026: Members of the Bengali community in Ravet came together to celebrate Poila Boishakh, marking the Bengali New Year, with cultural performances and community activities.
The event, organised by the Friendship Club, an association of the Bengali community in Pune, was held on April 15 at Backyard Palms in Ravet. Around 190 members and guests attended the celebration.
The programme featured a range of cultural performances, including Bengali poetry recitations, traditional dance and musical presentations. Participants showcased various aspects of Bengal’s cultural heritage, creating a festive atmosphere during the event.

Several stalls were also set up at the venue, offering traditional Bengali cuisine and cultural displays, which were well received by attendees.
The celebration began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by senior member Dilip Mallik, marking the formal inauguration of the programme.
Organisers credited the smooth conduct of the event to the efforts of key members, including Dilip Mallik, Pritish Banik, Sanjeet Paul, Dipen Roy, Rakesh Rakshit, Arindam Dey, Sandip Rana and P. Sarathi.
According to the organisers, such events are aimed at preserving and promoting Bengali culture and traditions while strengthening community bonds among Bengalis residing in Pune. They added that the Friendship Club plans to continue organising similar cultural and social gatherings in the future.

The event highlighted the role of community initiatives in maintaining cultural identity and fostering social connections among residents living away from their native regions.
