Pune Police Arrest 3 Persons For Selling 1 Remdesivir Injection For Rs 37,000; Three Vials Seized

Katraj, 2nd May 2021: The sleuths from the Crime Branch of Pune city police have arrested three persons who were allegedly selling one Remdesivir injection for Rs 37,000.

Police have seized three injection vials from their possession. There is a ban on the retail sale of Remdesivir due to its high demand for treatment of serious COVID19 patients.

Acting on information received by Police Naik Rajendra Landge and Constable Vivek Jadhav from the Anti-Extortion Cell 1, a team laid a trap on Saturday in Katraj. A decoy customer was sent whom the accused gave three injection vials for Rs 1.05 lakh. Police nabbed two persons identified as Nikhil Baburao Jadhav (24) of Ambegaon Pathar and Mayur Vijay Chavan (22) of Talegaon Dabhade, near Stonex Gallery on the road between Katraj Chowk and Navale bridge around 9.25 pm.

Police also seized their Honda WR-V car. Later, the accused told cops about their female accomplice who had provided the vials to them. Based on a complaint from FDA Inspector Suhas Tanaji Sawant, an FIR has been registered against them at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station.

The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (Crime) Shrinivas Ghadge and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 1)  Surendranath Deshmukh.

The team included Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Patil, Assistant Police Inspector Sandeep Buwa and police personnel Madhukar Tupsaunder, Rajendra Landge, Nitin Kamble, Vivek Jadhav and Amar Pawar.
