Pune Police Arrest Man for Making Death Threats Against Chief Minister Eknath Shinde

Pune, 11th April 2023: Authorities were alarmed after receiving a threat call regarding the safety of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra state, Eknath Shinde. The accused called the police control room number 112 on Monday night and made a threat against Shinde’s life, stating “I am going to blow up Eknath Shinde” before abruptly hanging up. Promptly, the police launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of the accused.

The suspect has been identified as Rajesh Maruti Agawane, 43, residing in the Dharavi area of Mumbai. It was discovered that the call originated from the Warje area of Pune.

During the technical investigation, it was found that the accused was under the influence of alcohol. The accused had made two calls to the helpline, with the first call requesting an ambulance for chest pain. After being advised to call 108, the second call followed, threatening the life of the Chief Minister.

Agwane works as a ward boy, and his wife is employed at a private facility in Kothrud. He had visited his wife twice a month, and on Monday, when he complained of chest pain, he called 112 for assistance. However, after the call was redirected to 108, he made the threatening call.
