Pune Police Assure Zero Tolerance for Crime in Citizen Dialogue with Baner-Balewadi Residents

Baner, 13th March 2025: In a bid to enhance community policing, Senior Police Inspector Navnath Jagtap, in charge of Baner Police Station under the Pune City Police Commissionerate, emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards crime in the Baner-Balewadi area. Speaking at a Police-Citizen Dialogue program organized by the Balewadi Welfare Federation, Jagtap encouraged citizens to report incidents via the emergency helpline 112, assuring immediate action while protecting informants’ identities.

The event, attended by over 150 citizens, provided a platform for residents to express concerns and interact with police officers. Jagtap offered guidance on preventing cyber crimes, crimes against women, and safety measures for seniors. He also advised on social media safety and increased patrolling in crime-prone areas. Traffic Division Head PI Shafil Pathan addressed traffic issues, including congestion at Radha Chowk, promising corrective measures such as signal installations and obstruction removal.

Citizens appreciated the initiative and expressed gratitude to the police officials. Residents highlighted specific concerns, such as traffic bottlenecks and incidents near a wine shop at Ashtavinayak Chowk, which have led to safety fears among locals. The event concluded with assurances of necessary action from both officers, fostering a collaborative approach to maintaining a crime-free environment in the area.
