Pune Police Athletes Clinch 39 Medals in Maharashtra State Police Shooting Competition

Pune, 29th December 2023: In a stellar display of marksmanship, 17 athletes from the Pune Police Force secured a remarkable total of 39 medals at the Maharashtra State Police Shooting Competition 2023. The athletes, representing Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, excelled in various categories, earning titles for the second consecutive year.

Medal Tally:
– Gold Medals: 20
– Silver Medals: 12
– Bronze Medals: 7

The Maharashtra State Police Shooting (Service Weapon and Spatters Weapon) Competition took place from December 20 to December 26 at the State Reserve Police Force Group No.1 and Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex.

The Pune Police athletes exhibited dominance across all three categories – Service Weapon, Sports Men, and Sports Women. This comprehensive performance secured titles for both Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate for the second consecutive year.

Individual Achievements:
Several individual athletes stood out with exceptional performances:
– Police Inspector Ankush Chintaman: One gold, one silver
– Assistant Police Inspector Rakesh Kadam: Two gold, one silver (Selected for Asian Shooting Championship in Jakarta)
– Police Constable Rajendra Patil: Six golds, one silver (Best pistol shooter and best MP5 shooter for the third consecutive year)
– Other athletes contributed with a commendable display, earning multiple medals in various categories.

Assistant Police Inspector Rakesh Kadam’s outstanding performance earned him a spot in the Indian team for the Asian Shooting Championship scheduled to take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, in January 2024. He will compete in the 25m Center Fire Pistol category.

Commissioner of Police Retesh Kumaarr extended his congratulations to the winning athletes for their exceptional achievements in the competition, acknowledging their dedication and skill in representing the Pune Police force.
