Pune Police Bust Inter-State Gang Planning Petrol Pump Robbery, Arrest 9 Suspects with Over 30 Stolen Mobiles

Pune, April 16, 2025 — Pune Police have foiled a planned robbery at a petrol pump in the Wakdewadi area by an inter-state gang that had come from Jharkhand and Bihar. Khadki Police arrested nine suspects involved in the case and recovered more than 30 stolen mobile phones valued at around Rs 8 lakh.

According to police sources, the gang was preparing to loot the Bharat petrol pump located on the Old Pune-Mumbai Highway near Wakdewadi. Acting on intelligence, Khadki police conducted a raid and intercepted the group. Six suspects were caught on the spot while three others initially escaped but were later apprehended. The arrested individuals confessed to committing mobile and snatching thefts across Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and other cities since their arrival in Pune on 10th April.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav stated that on 14th April, during arrangements for Bhim Jayanti, police spotted suspicious persons near the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway at Wakdewadi. When questioned, the suspects attempted to flee but were pursued and detained. The investigation revealed that the gang had planned the petrol pump robbery and had been involved in multiple thefts in the city.
