Pune Police Enforce ‘No Parking’ Zones Near Vote Counting Centre in Koregaon Park to Avoid Traffic Congestion

Koregaon Park, 22nd November 2024: The results of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections will be announced tomorrow. Vote counting for all eight Legislative Assembly constituencies around Pune City will take place at the Food Corporation of India (FCI) godown in Koregaon Park. To prevent traffic congestion and related issues, temporary traffic changes have been implemented by the Traffic Branch of the Pune City Police Commissionerate.

A “No Parking” zone has been enforced for all vehicles in front of the FCI godown on South Main Road. On the east side of South Main Road, from the junction at Lane No. 5 to the junction at Lane No. 2 on the west side, parking restrictions are in place. Similarly, “No Parking” has been enforced on Lane Nos. 3 and 4 up to a distance of 200 meters.

Vehicles coming from Lanes Nos. 5, 6, and 7 towards South Main Road will not be permitted to enter Lane No. 4. Drivers approaching from these areas should take a right turn to reach their destinations. Access to vehicles coming from South Main Road is blocked at Plot No. 38 Jain Property on Lane No. 2 and Bungalow Nos. 67 and 68 on Lane No. 3.

Parking arrangements for 600 to 700 two-wheelers for administrative officers and employees have been made at Pujya Kasturba Gandhi English and Marathi Medium School, North Main Road, Koregaon Park. Citizens’ two-wheelers and four-wheelers can be parked at Rohi Villa Palace, Lane No. 7, Koregaon Park. Additionally, four-wheelers for administrative officers, employees, and citizens can be parked at The Poona School and Home for the Blind, North Main Road, Koregaon Park.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Amol Zende has stated that except for vehicles belonging to essential services such as police, fire services, ambulances, and election officers, entry restrictions and “No Parking” rules will be strictly enforced as per the outlined plan. He has urged citizens to take note of these changes and cooperate with the authorities.
