Pune Police Hunt Motorcyclist Accused of Daylight Harassment on FC Road
Shivajinagar, 21st March 2024: A distressing incident occurred on Tuesday at the bustling Dnyaneshwar Paduka Chowk on FC Road, where a motorcyclist allegedly harassed a 36-year-old sound recordist in broad daylight.
According to Senior Inspector Chandrashekar Sawant of Shivajinagar police station, Pune City Police, the woman was awaiting a friend’s arrival around 1:25 pm when the biker approached her under the guise of seeking directions to Pune railway station. Seizing the opportunity, he inappropriately touched her and swiftly fled the scene. Despite her efforts to raise an alarm, the perpetrator had already sped away.
Providing further details, Sawant revealed that the woman informed the police that the biker had circled back after noticing her solitude, initiating a conversation under false pretenses of being unfamiliar with the area. Acting in good faith, she attempted to assist him, only to become a victim of his misconduct.
Authorities have obtained a description of the assailant from the victim and secured CCTV footage capturing the incident. Sawant assured that the police are pursuing leads and are optimistic about arresting the culprit swiftly.
