Pune Police Joint Commissioner Dr Ravindra Shisve Awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service

Pune, January 25, 2021: Pune Police Joint Commissioner Dr Ravindra Shisve has been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the eve of Republic Day by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). He is a 2002 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.

He was earlier awarded Antarik Suraksha Seva Padak-2008 and Hardship Special Service Medal-2008. Till now, he has received 55 rewards in his service.

Dr Shisve says that his main emphasis is on ethics and integrity and curbing malpractices besides administrative reforms following legitimate means and value-based youth movement.

Dr Shisve hails from Kalyan taluka in Thane district. He studied in ZP Primary School till 4th class in his native place and completed later education in Thane.

He completed medical graduation from K.L.E., Belgaum, Karnataka, in May 1999. He was a university rank holder throughout his academic career. He worked as a medical officer in the Primary Health Centre (PHC) till March 2000.

He appeared for UPSC Civil Services in 2001. He had secured 3rd rank in Maharashtra and 53rd rank all over India in 2001 Civil Services Exam.

After training at the National Police Academy Hyderabad and he joined Maharashtra Police. He completed Master’s Degree in Police Management (MDPM) after joining the IPS.

He worked as Additional Superintendent of Police and SP in Gadchiroli and Gondia (Both Naxal affected areas). He has also worked as SP of Sindhudurg, Buldhana and Sangli. He worked as DCP, Zone 1, Mumbai. He completed the maximum tenure of almost four years in the most important and sensitive Zone.

He also worked as Additional Commissioner of Police. i.e. Head of Special Branch, CID, Mumbai and Addl Commissioner of Police, Central Region, Mumbai. Now he is serving as Joint Commissioner of Police, Pune City since June 2019.

Dr Shisve has completed ‘Critical Incident Management Course’ in the USA and MCTP training in Australia. He was part of three members delegation of Mumbai Police to New York Police department.

Under his tenure, Sindhudurg District Police and Sangli District Police secured the distinction of getting ISO 9000:2001 Quality Certificate.

He has also won prizes in swimming, table tennis, poetry, elocution, good governance. etc.
