Budhwar Peth, 18th February 2026: In a late-night raid in the Budhwar Peth red-light district under the jurisdiction of Faraskhana police station, authorities detained 22 women, including 11 suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals allegedly involved in prostitution, officials said on Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Krushikesh Rawale stated that the operation was conducted based on specific intelligence received from an informant. “Acting on credible information, teams from Faraskhana and Khadak units carried out a coordinated raid in Budhwar Peth and detained 22 women found on the premises,” he said.

According to police, 11 of the detained women produced valid Indian identity documents, which were verified. Of the remaining 11, six admitted during questioning that they were from Bangladesh, while the nationality of the other five was confirmed through document verification, officials added.

Rawale said police will send a proposal to seal the premises where the alleged illegal activity was taking place. He also warned that similar enforcement drives will continue. “Such operations will be conducted regularly to curb illegal activities and ensure strict action against offenders,” he said.
