Pune, 18th February 2026: The name of Shrinath Bhimale has been officially cleared for the post of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) after receiving final approval from Ravindra Chavan, the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The decision ends internal party deliberations over the influential civic position.

The Standing Committee is considered one of the most powerful bodies in the municipal administration, as it is responsible for granting financial clearances and taking key policy decisions related to city governance. The chairman’s role is therefore seen as critical in shaping budget allocations, infrastructure priorities, and administrative approvals.

Party leaders indicated that Bhimale’s selection reflects organisational consensus and is aimed at ensuring smoother coordination between elected representatives and the civic administration. They added that the move is expected to streamline decision-making processes within the municipal corporation.
