Pune: Police Raid Five Shops Selling Duplicate Apple Products In Tapkir Galli, Products Worth Rs 4.80 Lakh Seized
Pune 5th August 2023: The Pune City Police have raided five mobile shops located in the Tapkir Galli of Budhwar Peth for allegedly selling duplicate Apple products and have seized products worth Rs 4,80,400 from their possession. A case in this regard has been registered at Faraskhana Police Station of the city.
According to police, an employee of Grifin Intellectual Property Services Pvt Ltd the company that has been given power of attorney by the Apple Inc to take action against duplication of Apple products approached the city police with a complaint regarding selling of duplicate Apple products including Airpods, Mobile Covers, Adaptors, Chargers, USB Cables etc with company’s logo and same design at Tapkir Galli in the city.
Accordingly, the police team along with the company’s representative raided five shops including Mobile Groff, Puneri Mobile Shop, Astha Mobile Shop, Kheteshwar Telecom Shop and Shivam Mobile Shop at Tapkir Galli and inspected the products during which duplicate products worth Rs 4.80 lakh were seized.
A case in this regard has been registered at Faraskhana Police Station against five accused mobile shops owners identified as Sumit Sunil Chavan, Otaram Manaram Prajapati, Vardharam Nupaji Prajapati, Bherusingh Arjunsingh Rajpurohit and Govind Ganga Singh under sections 51 and 63 of The Copyright Act (1957). Further investigation in the matter is underway.
