Pune Police Raid Opium Farm, One Woman Arrested

Loni Kalbhor, 15th March 2025: The Pune Police have taken swift action against illegal opium cultivation in Alandi Mhatobachi village, about 28 km from Pune, in Haveli taluka. Acting on confidential information, the police conducted a raid on March 14 at around 3 PM and seized six opium plants weighing 4 kilograms and valued at ₹40,000.

According to the police, the opium crop was found on a plot of land behind Nitin Timble’s property on Jagtap Mala Road. A team from Loni Kalbhor Police Station, accompanied by two panch witnesses, raided the site and discovered the illicit cultivation in Group (Gat) No. 775 of the village. Following proper procedures, the officers seized the plants and conducted a panchnama on the spot.

A case has been registered under Section 8B and 18 of the NDPS Act against the landowner, Mangal Dadaso Jabalkar (45), a resident of Amarai Vasti, Alandi Mhatobachi, Haveli, Pune. The accused woman has been taken into custody for her involvement in cultivating the prohibited crop.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Dr. Rajkumar Shinde and Assistant Police Commissioner (Hadapsar Division) Anuradha Udmale. The action was led by Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Panhale, along with Police Sub-Inspector Anil Jadhav and their team from Loni Kalbhor Police Station.

This is not the first instance of such illegal activities in the region. The police confirmed that similar cases have been registered twice in the past, and strict action has been taken against individuals involved in opium cultivation within the jurisdiction of Loni Kalbhor Police Station.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
