Pune, 16th April 2025: Following a late-night protest by civil service aspirants, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar held a meeting on Tuesday (15th April) with operators of competitive exam coaching centers. The meeting, held at the Commissionerate, came amid allegations that some coaching class owners and study room operators were instigating students to protest against exam-related issues.

The protest took place four days ago at the premises of Faraskhana Police Station and continued late into the night. Investigations revealed that several coaching center operators allegedly encouraged students to demonstrate, prompting the police to take serious note of the incident. Commissioner Kumar stated that action will be taken against those found guilty of inciting unrest.

He also issued a stern warning to those running competitive exam coaching classes without proper legal permissions, including clearance from the municipal corporation and adherence to safety norms. “We have identified a few names and will not hesitate to initiate legal proceedings against such individuals,” said Kumar.

The city has witnessed a surge in private coaching centers and study rooms. Police officials have raised concerns over these establishments ignoring fire safety protocols, building safety standards, and parking provisions.

Commissioner Kumar has ordered all police station heads across the city to carry out inspections of coaching centers and ensure they are compliant with municipal and safety regulations. He emphasized that student safety must be a top priority, and any coaching class found violating norms will face strict action.
