Pune, 23rd March 2026: The city police have urged residents to use the Public Traffic Police (PTP) app to report unauthorised hoardings across Pune, saying complaints received through the platform will be acted upon during a joint enforcement drive with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Officials said the week-long drive aims to remove illegal hoardings, banners and other obstructions from roads, footpaths and public spaces. While the app was originally launched to report traffic violations, police said it can now also be used to flag unauthorised hoardings, which often pose risks to traffic movement and public safety.

“The complaints received through the app will be taken up for action as part of the joint drive with the PMC,” a police officer said, adding that the initiative is aimed at making the city free of illegal hoardings.

On Sunday, the police honoured citizens who submitted the highest number of verified traffic violation reports through the app in February. The felicitation ceremony was held at the police commissionerate, where Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar presented cash prizes and certificates to the top five contributors.

Police said the PTP app has seen a strong response, with over 1.94 lakh complaints received so far. Of these, more than 1.86 lakh have been converted into challans, resulting in fines of over Rs 1.32 crore.

Officials said the initiative has helped strengthen enforcement by encouraging citizen participation and improving compliance on city roads.
