Pune Police’s WhatsApp Helpline Gets 1,224 Complaints In 50 Days, 247 Of Them Were Related To Noise Pollution

Pune 2nd Sept 2023: The Pune City Police Commissioner’s initiative to provide an option to directly reach out to him for a complaint through WhatsApp has received a good response since its launch. According to officials, a total of 1,224 complaints have been received on the WhatsApp helpline till August 30. While the officials have also noted that the majority of these complaints were related to noise pollution in the city, the local police immediately acted on receiving the complaints.

As per the data, a total of 247 complaints were received on the WhatsApp helpline about loud noise from hotels, restaurants and Bars etc. Many of these establishments were found playing loud noise beyond the permissible hours post 10 pm. pm. The police officials have taken action against such establishments on receiving the complaint. The police officials have also made a practice of taking feedback from the complainants after taking action.

It may be noted that the city police commissioner Reetesh Kumaar had launched the initiative on July 10 with an aim to provide an option for citizens to directly raise their complaints and feedback with him. The citizens can directly reach out to him or his dedicated team to solve their problems through WhatsApp on 8975953100.
