Pune: Post Recruitment Open In PCMC! 1,578 Seats Can Be Filled
Pimpri-Chinchwad, 8th March 2023: The obstacle of the 35 per cent limit of establishment cost for the post recruitment in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has been removed. The state government has relaxed this condition and approved the municipal corporation to fill 1,578 seats. Therefore, recruitment of essential service posts will be done soon in the Municipal Corporation.
PCMC is in the B category. Therefore, a new structure of the municipal corporation has been prepared, and it includes 16,000 seats. It has eliminated some old posts and created some new posts. Also, every month, at least 15 to 20 officers and employees retire after a regular period and take voluntary retirement. Therefore, the number of vacancies in the municipality is increasing, and currently, 9,785 posts are vacant.
Urbanization is taking place rapidly within municipal limits. There is a lot of pressure on the municipal administration while providing civic facilities. Therefore, the time has come for the administration to work through the available manpower and contract employees. Many people are being given additional responsibilities.
The increasing urbanization of the city is putting additional strain on the available manpower. Also, there is a delay in the work of the citizens. Therefore, there was a demand for increasing the manpower for many days.
16,838 seats have been sanctioned under four categories of A, B, C, and D in various departments of the Municipal Corporation. Currently, 7,053 seats are filled in this. So 9,785 seats are vacant. While this is the case, on the other hand, there is a restriction that the establishment cost should not be more than 35 per cent of the municipal income, and reportedly current installation costs are within 35 per cent. Therefore, even if the number of vacancies is large, the municipality can fill only 1,578 seats in the future.
Due to the limitation of expenditure, the administration was facing difficulties in recruiting vacancies in the vital departments including fire fighting, medical, health, water supply, and environment. The municipal administration has brought this matter to the notice of the government. Therefore, it has been approved by the government to relax the condition of 35 per cent of the establishment cost.
