Pune, 8th March 2023: As the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to develop a Green Corridor from Pune to Aurangabad, it will benefit the Ring Road taken up by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). This Green Corridor and Ring Road will pass through 12 villages. Therefore, the distance of East Ring Road will be reduced by 30 km, and this work will be done by NHAI. MSRDC has claimed that a cost of about Rs 3,000 crore will be saved due to this.

The Ring Road is being constructed by MSRDC in two phases – East and West. The eastern ring road will be about 66 km long, connecting five talukas and four national highways. This Ring Road will start from Varve Braduk on Pune Satara road and reach Urse on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. The names of the villages through which this Ring Road will pass and the area to be acquired have also been announced by the state government in this order. Therefore, further process of land acquisition will be started soon in this village.

Meanwhile, the central government has announced the Pune-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) Green Corridor. This route will be 286 km long, which will eventually connect MSRDC Ring Road. Both these roads will be connected through 12 villages in the eastern region. That distance is about 30 kilometres. Therefore, it has been decided that the road work in these 12 villages should be done by NHAI, and they should also bear the expenses incurred for it. Therefore, land acquisition and road development will also be done by NHAI.

The uniform route of both projects is passing through about 12 villages forming the East Ring Road. Therefore, MSRDC took the stand that no land acquisition should be done for two roads passing through the same village. Therefore, both administrations have unanimously decided to keep the road passing through 12 villages uniform. Due to this decision, the land acquisition in the village will be avoided twice, and the cost will also be saved.
