Indapur, 28th August 2021: A proposal to set up a small port for seaplane service on the banks of the Bhima river in Kalthan village has been sent to the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The work will be done after getting the approval of the departments of water resources, environment, and air control.

MP Supriya Sule had instructed the Pune Zilla Parishad to inspect whether seaplane service could be started from Ujani to Khadakwasla on the lines of ‘Kevadiya to Ahmedabad’ seaplane. Accordingly, Kumbhargaon Bhigwan, Kandalgaon, and Kalthan were identified. However, except Kalthan, other two places were canceled as birds usually roam around Kumbhargaon Bhigwan while Kandalgaon is near the dam.

The proposal for the Kalthan has been sent as the water level remains deep. If the proposal is approved, the economy of the taluka will be boosted. A tourist centre has been sanctioned at Ganjewalan in the Ujani catchment area and a seaplane service will give it a boost.
