Pune : Proposal To Make Walking Plaza Near Sarasbaug Goes Missing From PMC
Pune 12th Sept 2023: In a shocking incident reported in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), a file containing a detailed report on a proposal to make a walking plaza for street food vendors near Sarasbaug has gone missing. The plan aims to shift the current street food shops in the Sarasbaug area to a nearby location and a detailed proposal in this regard was prepared by the anti encroachment department of the municipal corporation.
According to officials, the proposal was approved by the municipal corporation and it was forwarded to the building department for further process but the file went missing from there. The PMC’s anti encroachment department officials said that a case will be registered in this regard and a new proposal will be prepared. However, the incident has raised eyebrows as many important files are kept inside the PMC building.
It may be noted that the PMC had proposed to shift the street food shops near Sarasbaug to a new location. A total of around 56 shops are to be shifted near Sanas ground and the road will be opened for the visitors as per the plan. The decision was taken after it was realised that the shops have covered the Sarasbaug and temple due to which it is not visible to the people travelling from the road. The shops were closed by PMC earlier but after a meeting a solution was found and it was decided to make a walking plaza in the area where these street food shops are located.
