Pune: Retired Army Man Detained After Shooting Tempo Driver Over Parking Dispute

Yerwada, 1st November 2024: A shooting incident on Diwali night has left a tempo driver dead in the Ashoknagar area of Yerawada. The victim, identified as Shahnawaz Shaikh, succumbed to his injuries during treatment after being shot by a retired army man, Shrikant Patil, following a parking dispute.

The altercation occurred around 11 pm on Thursday when Patil and Shaikh engaged in a heated argument over parking space. In a fit of rage, Patil reportedly fired at Shaikh, causing serious injuries. Shaikh was immediately rushed to Sassoon Hospital, where he later died.

Upon receiving reports of the incident, Yerwada police station and crime branch teams arrived at the scene. Patil has since been detained by the police for questioning.
