Pune Ring Road Land Acquisition: Landowners Respond Positively, Rs 250 Crore Compensation Distributed

Pune, 2nd August 2023: The process of land acquisition with consent for the Pune Ring Road has commenced and is receiving a positive response from landowners. Currently, 125 acres of land have been acquired, and a compensation amount of 250 crores has been disbursed.

Under the guidance of Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh, the district is actively involved in the land acquisition work for this significant state project. The landowners are being communicated with transparently and are being assured of their involvement. As an incentive for land acquisition through consent awards, a 25 percent additional compensation has been offered to the landholders. During the meeting of the district-level assessment committee, the deadline for submitting the consent option and signing the agreement was set for July 31.

Out of a total of 16,940 account holders in 35 villages associated with the land acquisition process for Ring Road, 8,030 account holders have given their consent for land acquisition. Among them, 275 account holders have received compensation of Rs 250 crores for the acquisition of 125 acres of land. The process of distributing payments is progressing smoothly, gaining strong support from the landowners.

The District Collector conducted a review of the land acquisition process today. The option of adjudication by consent is receiving a favorable response from the landowners. As reconciling the necessary documents for land possession takes time, the landowners requested an extension to submit their consent option. Consequently, the deadline for submission of options has been extended till August 21, 2023. If the consent letter and agreement are not received by August 21, the authorized land acquisition authorities will announce the land acquisition award without an additional 25 percent payment, assuming that the remaining landholders do not provide consent.

Collector Dr. Deshmukh has appealed to the landholders to take advantage of the 25 percent additional remuneration through the consent option within the given period. Cooperation with the administration is crucial to contribute to this project, which holds immense importance for the development of the district.
