Pune Road Rage Horror: Woman Suffers Serious Eye Injury, Car Vandalised After Honking Dispute in Ravet

Punawale, 15th December 2025: A shocking case of road rage was reported from Pimpri Chinchwad’s Ravet area, where a young woman HR professional suffered a serious eye injury, and her car was extensively vandalised following a dispute over honking. Ravet Police have registered a case against three unidentified men in connection with the violent attack that took place on the evening of December 6.

The complainant, Puja Gupta, a 28-year-old woman from Chembur, Mumbai, approached the Ravet Police Station (Pimpri Chinchwad Police) on the next day.

According to police, the incident occurred on December 6 around 7.45 pm, when she had come to Pune to meet her fiancé. The couple was travelling in her car to drop him at the Punawale bus stop.

As per the FIR, while passing the Strawberry Bar and Restaurant near Gaikwad Nagar in Ravet, a scooter carrying three men in a triple-seat violation overtook the car from the left and brushed against it. When her fiancé, who was driving, honked to alert them, the scooter riders allegedly became aggressive.

Police said the accused overtook the car again, blocked its way, verbally abused the couple and issued threats. One of the men then allegedly picked up a stone and smashed the car’s front windshield. The couple attempted to escape by driving towards the Punawale underpass, but their vehicle slowed down due to traffic congestion.

Taking advantage of the situation, the three men allegedly chased the car, got off their scooter and pelted stones at the vehicle. The rear windshield and all side windows were shattered, while the car body sustained dents and scratches after being kicked repeatedly.

During the attack, glass splinters struck the complainant near her left eye, causing a serious injury. The accused later fled the spot towards Punawale.

In her complaint, she stated that the attack took place near the Punawale underpass in the presence of a large crowd and traffic police personnel at the signal. She alleged that despite seeking help and calling the emergency helpline number 112, the assault continued unchecked. She also claimed that one of the attackers forcibly snatched her mobile phone during the incident.

The injured woman was initially taken to Rudra Hospital and later referred to Aditya Birla Hospital, where she underwent emergency eye surgery. Doctors have reportedly stated that her vision has not yet returned and the extent of recovery remains uncertain.

Ravet Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Senior Inspector Nitin Phatangare of Ravet Police said the confrontation reportedly began when the car’s wheel accidentally ran over the foot of one of the accused, causing no major injury. He said the situation quickly escalated into an argument, which later resulted in the attack. “The accused were taken into custody and later released after being issued notices,” Phatangare added.
