Mahatma Phule Mahavidyalaya, Pimpri Successfully Hosted National Conference
Pimpri, 15 December 2025: The Departments of Marathi, Hindi, English and IQAC of Mahatma Phule Mahavidyalaya, Pimpri, jointly successfully organized One-Day National Conference on “The Role of Translation in Language and Literature” at the second campus of the college in Sambhajinagar, Chinchwad. The event witnessed an overwhelming national response with over 195 research papers received from scholars across India an academic milestone for the college.
The conference was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prin. Dr. Shivling Menkudale Joint Secretary, Higher Education Department, Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara, who delivered an insightful keynote address. Emphasizing the cultural significance of translation, further, he stated that translation is not merely an exchange of words but a creative bridge between cultures requiring deep linguistic understanding.
Hon’ble Shri Sanjogji Waghere-Patil, Member of the General Body, Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara graced the inaugural session as Chief Guest and offered valuable guidance to the participants.
During the inauguration, the dignitaries jointly released the online and offline Research Journals, marking another academic accomplishment. The ceremony was further enriched by the presence of Hon. Prof. (Dr.) Suhas Nimbalkr, Vice-Principal of Commerce faculty, Prof. (Dr.) Sangita Ahiwale, Vice-Principal of Science faculty, Prof. (Dr.) Dattatray Hingane, Life worker of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara, Hon’ble Shri. Satish Gorde, Advocate, Bombay High Court, and Hon’ble Shri. Dattatray Gaikwad, Assistant Regional Officer, Western Region, Pune of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara as Guests of Honour.
Hon’ble Dr. Mamata Verlekar of Goa University delivered a thought-provoking and impactful lecture on the role of translation in language and literature as a Special Invitee Speaker in the inaugural function. She also offered deep insights into contemporary translation studies.
The session was presided over by Hon’ble Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Pandurang Bhosale, who expressed views about landmark participation and further proudly said that this conference has already made history by receiving more than 195 research papers, demonstrating overwhelming participation from scholars across India.
Dr. Neelkanth Dahale, IQAC Coordinator and Organizing Secretary of the conference made the introductory remark and welcomed all the dignitaries in the inaugural function.
Mr. Sangram Gosavi introduced all the dignitaries, while Prof. (Dr.) Kamayani Surve, Vice-Principal (Arts) and Conference Convener, proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Rima Batra and Ms. Anupriya compered the inaugural function.
English Sessions
In the first English session, Hon’ble Dr. Bhagyashree Varma, Associate Professor, Department of English, University of Mumbai who delivered an engaging expert talk enriched with practical illustrations. Dr. Rupali Pokharkar introduced the speaker and Mr. Esak Shaikh offered the vote of thanks.
In the second English session, Dr. Anand Hipparkar, Professor and Head, Department of English, Dada Patil Mahavidyalaya, Karjat, who spoke on Translation as Discourse. Dr. Sachin Chavan introduced the resource person, while Dr. Pankaj Kolhe proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Rupali Pokharkar compered the session.

Marathi Sessions
In Marathi section, the first expert lecture was delivered by Hon’ble Dr. Deepak Borgave, eminent writer and translator, who provided rich academic reflections and offered an illuminating perspective on translation. This was followed by Hon’ble Dr. Prabhakar Desai, Professor, Department of Marathi and Officiating Director, Board of Examinations and Evaluation, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune who gave valuable insights on translation studies. Mr. Sangram Gosavi introduced the speakers, while Dr. Neelkanth Dahale proposed the vote of thanks.
Hindi Sessions
In the first Hindi session, Hon’ble Prof. (Dr.) Balasaheb Sonwane, Head, Department of Hindi, Dr. Arvind Telang Mahavidyalaya, Nigdi, Pune, and Member of the Board of Studies (Hindi), Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, addressed on translation challenges and opportunities. Prof. (Dr.) Kamayani Surve introduced the speaker and Dr. Vaishali Khedkar proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Rima Batra compered the session.
In the second Hindi session, Hon’ble Prof. (Dr.) Nanasaheb Jawale, Subhash Baburao Kul Arts, Commerce and Science College, Kedgaon, and Member of the Board of Studies (Hindi), Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, delivered an insightful expert lecture. Dr. Vaishali Khedkar introduced the resource person, and Prof. (Dr.) Kamayani Surve offered the vote of thanks. Ms. Padmini Doiphode compered the session.
Multilingual Paper Presentation Sessions
Participants presented their research papers in multilingual sessions, offering diverse perspectives on the theme of translation. Sessions were chaired by Hon’ble Prof. (Dr.) Chandrakant Kamble, Head, Department of Marathi, Kisan Veer Mahavidyalaya, Wai, Hon’ble Dr. Pramod Pardeshi, Head, Department of Hindi, Dada Patil Mahavidyalaya, Karjat, Hon’ble Dr. Ganesh Wagh, Associate Professor and Head, Department of English, Annasaheb Awate College, Manchar. The chairpersons offered expert academic inputs, enriching the overall scholarly discourse.
Valedictory Session
The conference concluded with a vibrant valedictory ceremony. Hon’ble Dr. Richa Chaddha, Senior Hindi Officer, CSIR-NCL, Pune (MoU Partner), delivered an inspirational and thought-provoking address as Chief Guest. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Pandurang Bhosale presided over the session and He explained the importance of translation studies as an emerging field that offers fascinating career opportunities.
Research journals and certificates were distributed to the participants by the dignitaries. Prof. (Dr.) Kamayani Surve introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. Rupali Pokharkar compered the valedictory program, and Dr. Sachin Chavan proposed the vote of thanks in the valedictory session.
