Pune: Robbers Attack Pimpri Chinchwad Policemen With Knives; 2 Constables Injured

Pimpri Chinchwad, 4th June 2022: The Anti-Extortion Cell of Pimpri Chinchwad police chased the robbers and reached them. However, the robbers attacked the police with knives. This time two unidentified robbers ran away. Two policemen were injured in the attack.

The incident happened on the old Pune-Mumbai highway on Friday (June 3) around midnight.

Policemen Pradip Gutte and Nishant Kale were injured in the incident, said senior police inspector Ajay Jogdand.

Commissioner of Police Ankush Shinde met both the injured police personnel and appreciated their courage. The commissioner also inspected the spot and ordered immediate arrest of the unidentified accused.

According to the information given by the police, senior police inspector Ajay Jogdand and policemen Pradip Gutte and Nishant Kale were on night patrol. They were going towards Dehu Road, Talegaon when a man stopped the police car near Bhakti Shakti chowk in Nigid and told them that his four-wheeler had been stolen. Immediately Inspector Jogdand informed the control room and asked for blockade (nakabandi) at Dehu Road, Somatane Fata (Toll Naka). At the same time, Inspector Jogdand got the information that the four-wheeler mentioned by the concerned person was seen in the toll naka.

Police immediately intercepted the stolen car and asked the robbers to come out, but they did not come. Finally, Inspector Jogdand threatened them with a pistol and opened the car door. But, before police could do something, they attacked the police with sharp weapons and ran towards the nearby hillock. Police searched for the two robbers, but did not find them. They found dangerous weapons in the stolen car.
