Pune: RPF Seizes Rs 51 Lakh Unaccounted Cash From Passenger at Pune Railway Station
Pune, 22 September 2025: Railway Protection Force (RPF), Pune Division, recovered unaccounted cash worth ₹51 lakh from a passenger during a special drive under “Operation Satark” at Pune Railway Station.
According to officials, the incident took place during baggage screening duty at the Main Foot Over Bridge (FOB) near the PRS side, when MSF Security Guard Shri Krishna Dilip Bhange detected bundles of currency notes in the bag of a passenger. When questioned, the individual attempted to flee but was apprehended by on-duty RPF staff, including ASI Pradeep Chaudhary, ASI Santosh Jaybhaye, ASI Vilas Darade, and ASI/MSF Santosh Pawar.
The passenger was taken to RPF Thana, Pune, where he identified himself as Fardeenkhan Jafarulla Khan Mogal (24), a resident of Mogalvas, Warwada village, Mehsana district, Gujarat. Officials stated that the passenger could not provide a satisfactory explanation for carrying the large amount of cash.
In the presence of Income Tax Department officials, the cash was counted and confirmed as ₹51 lakh, including ₹22 lakh in mixed denominations from one bag and ₹29 lakh in ₹500 notes from another.
The seized amount along with the suspect was handed over to the Income Tax Department, Pune, for further investigation and legal action.
