Pimpri, 19th August 2022: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded Rs 105 crore from Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis for the proposed court building at Moshi Borhadewadi in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

In the high-powered committee meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, it has been agreed to make this fund available. Provision will also be made in the budget, BJP MLA and City President of Pimpri Mahesh Landge informed the reporters on Thursday.

The criminal and civil court functions are conducted in the court building at Morwadi. However, given the increasing number of cases and to provide more facilities to the lawyers and the accused, there was a demand to expand the court building.

Accordingly, it was decided in 2011 to give 16 acres of land at Peth No. 14 in Moshi-Borhadewadi. A nine-storey court building and living accommodations for judges were planned on this site. Due to a lack of site transfer and political will, the construction of the court stalled.

The officials of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Bar Association have repeatedly followed up with the PCMC and the State Government, but this work could not be done.

In this regard, Landge said, “On the initiative of Chief Minister Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Fadanvis, the proposed court building in Moshi was discussed in the high-powered committee of the Chief Secretary. At that time, the committee agreed to sanction an estimated fund of Rs 105.77 crore.”

The work of the building will be sped-up by making such a provision in the upcoming budget. Court proceedings will also start soon.

“Adv. Sachin Thopte, Adv. Atish Landge, Adv. Gaurav Valunj, Adv. Gorakh Makasare and other officials followed up on this,” Landge added further.
