Pune: Rs 31.77 Crores in Cash and Goods Seized Amid Assembly Election Code of Conduct

Pune, 12th November 2024: Since the start of the Model Code of Conduct on October 15 for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Elections, Pune District has seized cash and other items worth Rs 31.77 crores. This includes Rs 10.92 crores in cash, liquor worth Rs 5.2 crore (amounting to 6.5 lakh litres), narcotics valued at Rs 58.81 lakh, valuable metals worth Rs 8.63 crores, and other items totalling Rs 6.59 crores.

In all constituencies across Pune District, Flying Surveillance Teams (FST) and Static Surveillance Teams (SST) are actively stopping and inspecting suspicious vehicles, taking appropriate action as necessary. The Police Administration, Income Tax Department, Maharashtra State Excise Department, and Central Goods and Services Tax & Customs are also involved in these efforts.

Most items and cash were seized in Parvati Constituency, totalling Rs 6.70 crore, while the lowest amount was seized in Ambegaon Constituency, valued at Rs 5.93 lakh.
