Pune: Rs 320 Crore Finalized for Mula Rejuvenation Project, Approved by PCMC Commissioner
Pimpri, 26th April 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) are jointly implementing a rejuvenation project for the Mula River flowing through the limits of the PCMC.
The Environment Department of the municipality conducted a separate tender process of Rs 320 crore for the project. On Tuesday (25), Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh approved the Standing Committee’s proposal to spend Rs 276,54,31,378 to pay BG Shirke Construction Technology Company for the work.
While the Pavana and Indrayani River Improvement Scheme is being implemented by the PCMC, most of the Mula River falls under the jurisdiction of the PMC. Therefore, the PMC has appointed an expert consultant to implement a riverbank improvement scheme for the river. A joint tender process was to be implemented, but the Environment Department of the PCMC decided to conduct a separate tender process.
Accordingly, a tender of Rs 320,85,48,785 was sanctioned for an eight km distance by the Environment Department. Four tendering companies participated, with three qualifying. BG Shirke Construction Technology Pvt Ltd was willing to do the work at a rate of 14.25 per cent less than the tender rate. Thus, Commissioner and Administrator Shekhar Singh approved a total spend of Rs 266,64,78,430, including all taxes and the final cost of Rs 276,54,31,378 for the work.
