Pune RTO Issues Over 3,000 International Licenses In 2022
Pune, 2nd January 2023: Until now, the international driving license was only obtained by those going abroad for employment or education. But recently, to save money, those going for tourism abroad from Pune have also started taking international driving licenses.
Therefore, three and a half thousand international licenses have been taken from Pune RTO in seven months.
Many people in the country go abroad for jobs and education. To facilitate driving abroad, they take international licenses from India. Recently, the number of people going abroad for tourism has also increased. After going abroad for tourism, if you take a local vehicle, the cost increases. But, if you have an international driving license, renting a car reduces the cost of the driver. Due to this, there has been an increase in the number of international driving licenses issued by tourists. In 2021-22, a total of 2,138 people took an international license from Pune RTO. In 2022, the same number has gone up to 3,551 in seven months.
An international license issued in India is considered acceptable for driving in other countries that have agreements with India. The license is valid for all vehicles except heavy vehicles. It includes many countries like USA, South Africa, Germany, and New Zealand. This international license issued from India is valid for one year.
Citizens who settle abroad for work or education have to obtain an international license to drive there. For this license, the concerned applicant does not have to take the driving test or exam again. However, their current driving license, passport and visa should be verified. For this, an application has to be made from the transport website under ‘Sarathi Service’. After that, one has to pay the fee online, scan, and upload the necessary documents. International Driving Permit is then issued within a day. Citizens can go directly to the RTO and collect the license.
