Pune, 1st December 2021: On the occasion of Constitution Day, Dhamma-Bandhu and social workers engaged in remarkable contribution towards society were honoured at the hands of Dr Vilas Adhav, Professor and Head, Department of Economics, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). He also awarded the Samrat Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar to Dr Priyanka Narnavre, IPS Officer, Pune and Anjum Inamdar, COVID Warrior.

Dr Adhav said that Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar was a staunch proponent of an exploitation-free social and economic system. Dr Ambedkar opined that any kind of exploitation has many facets such as economic, social, religious and political. In the case of India, social and religious abuse is stronger than economic abuse.

Dr Ambedkar had said that the revolution in this country is half-baked. The real revolution is still to happen. And what is this real revolution? It comprises conflicting with the traditional values of life and accepting the new values of life.

Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar declared in the last speech of the Constituent assembly, ‘If we desire that true democracy exists, what should we do? In my opinion, first of all, we must follow only constitutional means to fulfill our social and economic objectives. In other words, we must stay away from the path of bloodstained revolution; violation of laws, non-cooperation and protest should be avoided at all costs. Resorting to non-constitutional ways used to be justified when there were no constitutional means to achieve the social and economic objectives. However, when we now have constitutional ways and means available to us, non-constitutional methods cannot be justified in any way. These methods lead nowhere but to the road to anarchy and chaos. Therefore, the faster we rule these methodologies aside, the more fruitful it will be for us.’

The programme was attended by Adv. Ramesh Pavle; Pooja Anand, Corporator, Khadki Cantonment; Rahul Shinde, singer; Datta Suryavanshi, programme organizer; Dadasaheb Ranpise; Adv.
