Pune: No Tax Hike In Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Area For Next Financial Year
Pimpri, 6th December 2021: Ahead of the municipal election, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has decided not to increase the tax rate. There has been no hike in the tax rate for the last two years.
The municipal elections are expected to take place in February 2022. Elections are just two months away and the formation of wards is in the final stages. The election year has been a great relief to the people of the city as there will be no tax hike in the coming financial year. For the financial year 2022-23, it is necessary to fix the tax rates before 20th February 2022.
Accordingly, under Section 99 of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, the tax rates for the financial year 2022-23 have been kept as they are. The model code of conduct is expected to come into force in late December or the first week of January. Against this backdrop, the administration has raised the issue of fixing tax rates this year three months in advance.
PCMC has 5 lakh 61 thousand registered properties at present. It has commercial, residential, composite properties. The current tax rates are 13 per cent for residential properties at Rs 1 to 12 thousand, 16 per cent for Rs 12,000 to Rs 30,000 and 24 per cent for valuation of Rs 30,000 and above. The same rates have been maintained in the coming financial year. Also, cleaning tax, fire tax, education tax, tree tax, sewage facility tax, water supply benefit tax, road tax has been kept as it is. There was no increase in entertainment tax. Non-residential taxes are also kept ‘as it is’.
