Dehu, 30th April 2025: The 340th annual Palkhi procession of Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj will commence from Dehu on 18th June, embarking on a 19-day pilgrimage to Pandharpur. The Palkhi, carrying the symbolic paduka of Sant Tukaram, will arrive in Pandharpur on 6th July, coinciding with Ashadhi Ekadashi, a highly significant day for the Warkari sect. The Palkhi will remain in Pandharpur until 10th July, offering devotees several days of spiritual observance before beginning its return journey, which will conclude back in Dehu on 21st July.

This centuries-old tradition, known as the Pandharpur Wari, draws thousands of Warkaris-devotees who undertake the pilgrimage on foot, chanting hymns and celebrating Maharashtra’s devotional heritage. The journey is meticulously planned, with daily stops at various towns and temples before reaching Pandharpur. The procession also features traditional rituals such as the Gol Ringan and Ubhe Ringan, where devotees and holy horses circle the Palkhi in vibrant displays of faith and unity.

This year, due to a change in the lunar calendar, the halt at Anthurne has been cancelled, and the Palkhi will pause for a one-hour afternoon rest at Shindawane Chowk after passing Loni Kalbhor. The procession’s management has been entrusted to Ganesh Maharaj More, Vaibhav Maharaj More, and Dilip Maharaj More, as announced by Dehu Sansthan President Jalindar Maharaj More.

The Pandharpur Wari is recognised as one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, with the route and schedule strictly followed to ensure the safety and comfort of all participants.
