Pune, 28th July 2025: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) hosted a special felicitation ceremony on Monday to honour Vaishnavi Aadkar, an exceptional university athlete who recently secured a bronze medal at the World University Games held in Germany.

The celebration took place in the presence of Vice Chancellor Dr. Suresh Gosavi and Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Parag Kalkar, who presented Vaishnavi with a memento, acknowledging her outstanding representation of India and the university on the international sports stage.

The event also saw attendance from key members of Pune’s academic and sports community. Among those present were BMCC Vice Principal Bharti Upadhye, Vaishnavi’s grandfather Arun Aadkar, her father Nihar Aadkar, and a host of dignitaries from the university’s sports wing. These included Dr. Sudam Shelke, Assistant Director of Sports, Dr. Mohan Amrule, Director of Physical Education, Prof. Aniruddha Sharma from Symbiosis College, veteran tennis coach Mr. Nandan Bal, University Senate Member Krishna Bhandalkar, and Sports Board officers Mr. Kishor Ghadeyar and Mr. Datt Utekar.

Vaishnavi’s international achievement has been widely hailed as a moment of pride for SPPU and has become a source of motivation for aspiring athletes across Maharashtra. University officials praised her unwavering dedication, discipline, and perseverance, and encouraged more students to pursue sports alongside academics.
