Pune : School Bus With Permission To Accommodate 42 People Found Running With 92 Students, Caught By RTO

Pune 10th August 2023: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Pimpri Chinchwad has taken a strict action by imposing a fine on a school that was found running with 92 students despite having a permission to accommodate only 42 people. The action was taken against a school bus operated by Excellence School in Moshi. The RTO officials have imposed a fine of Rs 31,000 against the bus driver.

The principal of the school was also summoned to the spot soon after the RTO officials caught the bus, He was asked to make separate arrangements to ferry children to the school and was instructed to ensure safe transport of children studying in his school. The reports also claimed that the school bus that was caught violating the norms has been ferrying over 70 students every day on the same route.

The parents of the children who send their kids to school by such school buses have raised concerns while demanding strict enforcement of law against the violators. Earlier, the RTO officials had arranged a meeting with the school bus association members and owners of the school buses in the city to ensure safety of the children. It was instructed in the meeting that everyone should follow the traffic norms and they were also asked to register on a dedicated portal launched for them.
