Pune 28 April 2025: The Internal Affairs Office, led by Dr. Nirupama Kocherlakota, in collaboration with the International Students’ Club, hosted the vibrant International Cultural Day event, ‘Serenade of the Globe,’ on April 15, 2025. The event showcased a rich array of global traditions, music, and artistic performances, bringing together students from over 15 countries.

The celebration transformed the campus into a cultural mosaic, where students proudly shared their heritage through traditional and contemporary performances. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Sarah Biwa, Assistant Vice President of Finance at Puma Energy, and Vice Chancellor Dr. R M Chitnis.

Students from Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Sudan, Sudan, Bangladesh, and India performed their national dances in traditional attire, offering a glimpse into their diverse cultures. These performances were part of the event’s mission to promote cultural understanding and unity among students from different parts of the world.

Dr. Nirupama Kocherlakota, Associate Director of the Internal Affairs Office, emphasized the importance of fostering cultural dialogue in today’s interconnected world. “‘Serenade of the Globe’ is more than just a celebration—it is an opportunity for cultures to engage in meaningful exchange,” she stated.

The vibes and energy at the event were very positive, and I felt delighted and proud to witness the intercultural exchange between students from different countries. Such events are essential for international students to connect with one another and with local students. I look forward to attending many more events like this in the future”, said Mohammad Saif, Founder & CEO, Welfare Association of Youth.

The event served as a platform for students to connect and celebrate their global identities, strengthening the sense of community and inclusivity among the university’s diverse student body.

MIT-WPU continues to support an environment that promotes global citizenship and celebrates cultural diversity, offering students opportunities to showcase their heritage and learn from others.
