Pune: Seven People Run Away With Seized Illegal Liquor of Rs 50 lakh from State Excise Department

Pune, October 3, 2020: A container vehicle carrying illegal liquor worth Rs 50 lakh heading from Pune to Mumbai was stopped and seized by the State Excise department a few days back. On Thursday morning, a group of seven people fled with seized illegal liquor along with the container of Rs 20 lakh from the State Excise Department office at Talegaon-Chakan road.

Sub Inspector Yogesh Phatangare has lodged a complaint at the Talegaon Dabhade Police Station. A case has been registered against seven unidentified persons.

According to the police, the state excise department had set a trap at Somatne Phata on Pune to Mumbai highway on September 29 to seize a container transporting illegal liquor. After they caught the container, it was brought to the department’s office. On October 1, the accused came to the office; they assaulted the complainant and the team of the excise department. And then, fled with the illegal liquor worth of Rs 50 lakh and a container of Rs 20 lakh from the office.
